Description of 1963 Chevy II
The car has been painted with PPG DelStar Corvette Bright Yellow
with Pin Strip graphics by Ed's Art, Spokane Wa. The body has
had the peak side moldings removed & the holes welded. The running
gear modifications are a 450 hp. 400 cid. s. b. , 3" exhaust
with 3" Flowmasters. Turbo 400 & a 3500 stall torque converter.
Custom made Ford 9" rear end housing with 4:10 gears, custom
31 spine Moser axles. Competition Engineering sub frame connectors,
Competition Engineering J style traction bars. Raised white
letter B. F. Goodrich T.A. Radials on Yellow corvette Rally
wheels 14"rear 15" front. My family spent over $20,000 to do
a complete frame off restoration at home. All of the work was
done on a body roll in 2 ½ years. The interior has been sewn
in Silver & Black crushed Velvet with vertical 2" tuck & roll
and Yellow piping. There are Yellow Chevy Bowties embroidered
in the door panels & in the center of the back seat. It has
ran in the high 11's but it will run a 12.1 all day long. I
have had no problems with the car at all except a starter solenoid.
Driven about 5,000 miles since 1995.
The best modification ? Well I like them all , I guess it would
be the 9" rear end. |

This was a Sunday School Teacher's car in North
Dakota; she bought it new in '63, and put 64K miles on it over
30 years, at which time it went into storage.
Since I bought it, I lowered it, rebuilt the front end and brakes,
and put a fan clutch in, adding about 10-15 horses on the freeway.
Plans for the future include building up the Straight Six with
some Clifford speed parts (a 4-bbl, intake and headers, maybe
milling the head a bit and porting it), an electric water pump(?),
some new interior bits, and paint (maybe GM Midnight blue).
If you have advice, tips, or want to know more about the car,
feel free to email me! |
