I bought this car from a college kid for $1350. He obviously
had no idea what he had. He claimed that the car had 135,000
miles on it since the odometer showed 35,000. I found out totally
by coincidence that the car did indeed have an original 35,000
miles by finding an ad for the car in the Sept. 1995 edition
of the Late Great Chevy Magazine. The ad claimed 28,000+ original
miles from a member in Missouri. So naturally I called the ad
and the man verified it by claiming to have bought it from the
original owner from Oklahoma in 1988 and sold it to a man in
Utah in 1995. The car has Utah plates and a Missouri parking
permit dating 1994 in the window. This car is bone stock original,
sporting Factory Deluxe All-weather A/C, Power Steering, Power
Brakes, Power Seat (rare), Front and Rear Bumper Gaurds, Door
Edge and Gas Door Gaurds, Seat Belts, Push Button Radio and
Factory Tinted Glass. The car is painted the original aqua with
a white white top. The car is an Impala 4-dr sedan instead of
the more common 4-dr hardtop. I originally intended to part
the car out for the resurrection of my ragtop since I needed
a front clip and an engine, I figured $1,350 was an ok price
for those plus the countless other goodies attatched to it.
But finding out that this mileage was original put an end to
that idea, Ultimately ending in a divorce. (Another story) Any
ways I'm still looking for parts for the ragtop and a new girlfreind
who appreciates the need to keep a gem intact because of what
it is instead of what parts are on it. My apologies, I sent
you a story about my Impala 4dr and neglected to tell you who
I was. I'm mmyers1963@aol.com also known as ImpalaMike@1963chevrolet.com
I signed up for your email address offer. If you could post
that as owner comments on my gallery posting that would be great.
My favorite 63 is one that I drew of a car that should have
been built but wasn't. A 1963 Chevy Impala Limousine I will
send a pic as soon as I can find it If any one knows of a custom
63 Impala limo let me know! Otherwise My 63 ragtop is my true
girlfreind. Shoulda kept the 409 car though. Oh well live and
learn. To date I've owned 36 1963 chevys and have only owned
4 Impalas of other years, so I would say I'm hooked. Anyways
keep up the great site and if I can supply any help or input
let me know. |

Purchased car summer of 1999. Swapped in a turbo
350, and had the rearend rebuilt. Shortened driveline and added
a polyurethane center carrier. New shocks and rear airbags have
been installed. Installed a 605 Power steering conversion kit
and a new 4-core radiator. Currently all chrome and trim pieces
are being refinished. This coming winter the wagon will receive
a new powerplant consisting of a 65 Chev 300 hp 327 already
rebuilt and balanced. Hopefully we will be upgrading to a Holley
Pro-injection fuel delivery system, and a 200r overdrive transmission.
We have 64 Impala SS bucket seats and steering column to install
along with a 63 Impala SS console and shifter. All new weather-stripping
has been purchased and is waiting to be installed after the
car is straightened and repainted this winter. |

Hello Graham, my name is Jesse (this is my Dad's
email address). I would like to submit some pictures of my 63
Impala 2 door hardtop. I'm restoring it, and haven't done any
repairs yet. Just taking it apart still. I'm sending four pics.
Two are before I washed it, and two are after I washed it. The
after pics are when the car is still wet, but like many people
who see my pics, I'm impressed. I hope you are too. The car
has seen better days, but hopefully someday I'll be cruising
around in it. Here's some info on it. It's a Canadian built
'63 Impala 2 door hardtop, (I'm told it's a Sport Coupe if it's
not an SS...is this right?) It has a bench seat, column shifter
(minus handle now...a previous owner crudely cut a hole in the
floor). It has no power options...Manual steering, brakes, windows,
locks. The exterior is white (Ermine?) and the interior is blue.
I'm waiting for my history package from GM of Canada. This will
tell me if the seized 283 I got with the car is original. The
VIN number on the block, and the VIN number on the car don't
match, but A guy told me in '63 they didn't match from the factory.
The guy I bought it from took the front end off just to remove
the engine. (Weird, huh?) He then set the engine on the ground
and left the car to sit for the next 10 years (approximately).
The plates that were on the car say "Expires Feb.1975".
Well...that's all I can think of for now. Thanks. |

Here's some pics of my car for the photo gallery.
The car is far from done yet, but it's a start! Following is
some info about her too. I saw the car last November (99), and
knew i had to have it. As i was taking it for a test drive,
the car ran out of gas. Since it was only several hundred yards
sown a two lane road from the owner's home, we decided to just
push it back to his yard, put some gas in, and finish the test
drive. As I was pushing, a lady that was too preoccupied chatting
with her passenger didn't see the car in the road, and swerved
to the shoulder to avoid us. Unfortunately, at the instant I
heard her brakes squealing, i dove for the shoulder also. The
inevitable happened, and I was struck and thrown 20 feet. I
suffered some back injuries, but am happy to say there were
no really lasting problems. Anyway, azfter that, i just had
to buy the car, so I did in December. The owner felt so bad,
he dropped the price substantially. I've cruised the car all
summer so far, with the only problems being the tranny. I couldn't
find another powerglide in my area after the old one conked
out for the third time, so I went with a TH-350. I've also added
a Quadrajet from an early '70's Chevy truck, and a dual plane
intake from an early '80's Camaro. I plan on a re-paint over
the fall and winter, but right now i'm having a great time driving
her every day. She gets a thumbs-up wherever we go. This has
got to be one of the most fun cars i've ever owned! |
